LİPOPOLİSAKKARİT İLE İNDÜKLENMİŞ HİPOKAMPAL TOKSİSİTEDE RAMELTEON'UN ETKİSİ

Objective
 Despite the advances in medicine, sepsis still remains
 a major health problem worldwide and brain tissue is
 one of structures damaged early period of
 sepsis. Neuroinflammation (NI) is considered as the
 main mechanism septic injury. Ramelteon
 (RML) non-selective (MT1 / MT2) melatonin
 receptor agonist was approved by FDA 2005
 with indication insomnia. RML shows relatively
 higher affinity for both subtypes among other
 melatonergic drugs.
 Material Method
 Twenty-eight male Wistar Albino rats were used
 to investigate protective effect on
 lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced NI. Control, LPS (5
 mg/kg, intraperitoneally), (8 orally) and
 + (45 minutes before LPS) groups were
 created. Six hours following last drug administration,
 sacrificed. Blood hemogram analysis cortical hippocampal tissues histopathological
 evaluation collected.
 Results
 increased white blood cell neutrophil/
 lymphocyte ratio (NLR) while it decreased lymphocyte
 platelet counts. NLR counts significantly. In histochemical
 evaluation, marked inflammatory infiltration apoptosis observed areas group. response apoptotic bodies these
 areas.
 Conclusion
 may be on LPS-induced NI in
 hippocampus via anti-inflammatory anti-apoptotic
 mechanisms.
